All PHE Gaskets and Plates are produced under approved production conditions, and both Rubber compounds and Plate material are analyzed on a third-party lab. Entrance material-control for Plates and gaskets is made at our own lab, to ensure compliance with certificates.

Reason for occurrence: ① Improper selection of plates resulted in corrosion, cracking, or perforation of the plates. ② The operating conditions do not meet the design requirements. ③ The residual stress after cold stamping of the plate and the small clamping size during assembly cause stress corrosion There is slight leakage at the leakage groove of the plate, causing harmful substances (such as C1) in the medium to concentrate and corrode the plate, forming a liquid leakage. Example: A BR03 plate heat exchanger with 254 SMo plate material in the sulfuric acid system of an aluminum limited company experienced corrosion and leakage of the carbon steel pipe on the cooling water side after 5 months of operation, and the acid leaked to the cooling water side. Upon inspection, it was found that there was severe corrosion and cracking at the inlet of the plate acid solution and the diversion area. On site analysis found that the process parameters such as system operating temperature, flow rate, and concentration exceeded the design conditions, and the operating temperature far exceeded the applicable range of the material. Plate heat exchangers that use saturated steam as the primary heat source are prone to plate corrosion during operation, resulting in product leakage. This is due to the high steam temperature, which can easily cause the rubber sealing gasket to fail at high temperatures during equipment operation, causing steam leakage and rapid condensation in the secondary sealing area. As the leakage continues, the condensation residue accumulates more and more, forming areas with high concentration of Cl in local areas, achieving corrosion conditions that damage the passivation layer on the surface of the plate. At the same time, due to the high internal stress formed by cold stamping of the plates in this area, when the surface passivation layer is damaged, the internal stress action leads to the occurrence of stress corrosion.

Treatment method: ① Replace cracked or perforated plates and use light transmission method to search for plate cracks on site. ② Adjust the operating parameters to meet the design conditions When repairing and assembling the heat exchanger, the clamping size should meet the requirements, and the smaller the better. ④ Reasonable Matching of Plate Materials for Plate Heat Exchangers
